Acheron's Arc

Well…I’ve finished the 1st story arc, Acheron, of the Dark-Hunter series. *sob*  My heart..*twinge* whenever I think about it. Half way through the book, I learned about the 4 arcs of the series, with Acheron being the first. I wasn’t absolutely sure what that meant, but I had an idea that each book, each story presented clues about this amazing enigmatic man. Acheron’s story unfolds; deliberately in each story. I’m glad that I stuck to my goal of reading the stories in order. I wanted to be surprised and discover something new about him; his powers, the dragon tattoo (Simi), Apostolos.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Dark-Hunters and Weres. *gasp* Kyrian (of Thrace, “macho babe boy”), Talon (the heart-throb), Zarek (the psycho I love), Valerius (the quiet misunderstood gentleman), Julian (the intellectual Greek). And the Weres: Vane (the sexy, ultra-masculine wolf), Fury (Vane’s humorous brother), Wren (the tigard, the “psycho” misunderstood Were), Ravyn (the sexy DH/Were), Sin (the Sumerian son-in-law), and of course, Alexion (Acheron’s right-hand man; his Alexion).

Acheron appears in each character’s story; the DH leader continually balances major players and events. He defines himself as a wrangler, one who pulls all the major pieces of the puzzle together.  “If everyone does what they’re supposed to do, everything should work out”. This makes it Acheron’s arc.

The arc concludes with his story, Acheron. Finally, I get his back-story. I didn’t realize that his story would be so… tortuous, tormented, and heart-wrenching; especially when I met him as the DH leader. He swaggers.  Powerful, lethal, sarcastic, sexual, elusive, and confident. How could he possibly continue to define himself as a whore, be so vulnerable? Can he become the phoenix and rise from the ashes of self-hatred?

Fortunately, his story continues... He, as with most of us, is a work-in-progress!
