Wait for You is a
romantic story about secrets, friendship, and trust told by Avery, the
mysterious female protagonist. She conceals an ominous dark secret that affects
her life and her ability to establish trusting relationships. Avery attends a
college in West Virginia where she meets Cam, an exciting ex-playboy. Despite
her best efforts to avoid developing any type of partnerships, Cam captivates
Avery’s interest and heart, and she eventually learns self-acceptance and
self-love.
In Wait for You, Cam
is the “perfect” attentive boyfriend. Cam is extremely sexy, attractive, and
available, a prime example of “man candy”, and he can have any girl he wants!
However, he shows remarkable patience and tolerance toward Avery, the fragile
“broken” protagonist. Why does Cam want Avery? I needed to know, needed to gain insight into Cam, his
thoughts and motivations; therefore, I read Trust in Me, Cam’s POV. He is wonderfully funny, flirty,
confident, and passionate.
Initially, Cam is only curious about Avery, this unusual
awkward, but stunning girl. Avery is so nervous and uncomfortable with Cam that
he cannot help but tease her at every affordable opportunity. Just like an
older brother!
“I couldn’t resist teasing her. It
was like finding a new hobby. (Cam)”
To his astonishment, Cam cannot believe that Avery actually
refuses to go out with him! Persuading Avery to date him becomes a personal
challenge for him, as her constant refusals affect his ego and reputation. More
importantly, Cam develops deep affectionate feelings for Avery; however, he
instinctively knows something is horribly wrong. Despite their growing
closeness, Avery remains distant, evasive and defensive. In contrast to Wait
for You, we are privy to Cam’s suspicions
and we understand and appreciate his willingness to work painstakingly for
Avery’s trust and affection. Likewise, Cam conceals his own secret from Avery.
Thus, he is able to empathize with her reluctance to openly share a
devastating, shameful past experience.
We discover that Cam is human, flawed, and not perfect! The difference is that he has a strong
supportive network, his family and friends.
I really like Cam. He
is funny, playful, patient, and persistent. Cam maintains a delicate balance
with Avery. He intuitively knows when to “push” Avery for answers, encourage
her to trust him, and when to “pull back”, be patient with her. Strong and
independent, Cam is his own man. He has supportive friends; however, he follows
his own mind and path. Jase and Ollie do not understand Cam’s infatuation with
Avery. Their good-natured teasing
does not deter him. Cam wants Avery!
A great read!
